Founding Principals
- Preservation and restoration of vintage computing technology
- No drama, no beauracracy, we are in it for the fun of old computers
- Any necessary decisions will be made by democratic vote from any active member whom has an opinion about the decision to-be made
- Operate completely not-for-profit. No membership dues, everything is free except where we have specific costs to cover (events where we rent a facility, lunches, etc.), any excess cash flow will be reinvested into the group in some fashion
- Retro/Vintage will be defined as "any computer that shows up on OldComputers.net and/or other accepted vintage computing internet resources", no specific leaning toward any computer or manufacturer. Some workshops/events may have a theme.
Future Plans
- Website tracking events and talking about the club, maybe with a forum and/or mailing list of some sort.
- Repair Workshops (We need to find a local facility with cheap rent, use a per-visitor/participant fee to cover that facility rental. We are thinking about fire halls, American Legion, churches, libraries. We want a facility we can rent/have for no or nearly no money.)
- Participation in Local Science/Technology Events
- Advertising/Accepting Hardware Donations (Free pickups!)
- Distribution of items/goods to other members
- Show and Tell, projects, acquisitions, etc. at regular meetings/workshops.
Other possibilities
- Computer/Equipment Rentals
- Commissioned Repair Activities
- Festivals/Larger Events
